91 YEARS STRONG.

Our Roots.

The roots of Truckee-Tahoe Lumber Company go back to San Francisco before the turn of the 20th Century where the Charlie Cross family owned and operated Cross Lumber Company and Wendling-Nathan Lumber Company selling lumber throughout Northern California. Truckee-Tahoe Lumber Company was incorporated in 1931 and began to concentrate its business in the Truckee-Tahoe City area. In 1950, The Cross family acquired the majority interest in the company and became sole owners.

The Announcement.

The Announcement of the Winter Olympic Games in 1960 brought major change to the Truckee-Tahoe region. It also brought major change to Truckee-Tahoe Lumber. Charlie Cross obtained a profitable contract with wholesale distributers and creators to underwrite the company as a lumber supplier for the construction of the Olympic Village and additional structures for the Games. There was high demand for the lumber and other materials. The subsequent housing boom brought more restaurants and hotels to the Truckee area. This was only a precursor to additional growth in the region, much of which occurred in the 1970’s.

In 2012 Andrew Cross became company president and Ira Cross became vice president.

In 2014

GOODBYE HOME CONCEPTS

HELLO DESIGN CENTER

THE DESIGN CENTER

Dear Customers, Vendors, Employees, and Friends,

Home Concepts has been the brand for our designer showroom for the last 29 years and we are very proud of everything we have accomplished with it. We had separated it from the lumber yard at the time because we wanted it to stand out on its quality of kitchen/bath products and the skill of our designers. It was very easy with both companies being next door to each other to explain that we were one company. With the lumber yard’s eventual move, hopefully this summer, we have realized that we will lose the benefit of being able to identify as one company. With that understanding, we have decided to combine the brands. We are very excited to roll out our new embracive name, Truckee Tahoe Lumber Company & Design Center. You will see our new logo on all our trucks and at all of our locations. If you have any questions ,feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Andrew Cross President & CEO
